Can bad students be good scientists?
Just a comment... since you are asking this question you care about your performance and future aspirations. Many European universities have student help/skills centres that might be able to help you with some of your study issues. If you haven't tried them, give it a shot. They won't solve everything, but they could help out.

Why don't professors give talks at their own departments?
They also do in all the universities I have been to.. (biology/ecology/geography departments)

Why is my published article seemingly not indexed by Google or Google Scholar?
@semdeb - well to some extent, all work is science isn't novel as it's built on the work of others. In my field (marine biology) there are many papers that use tools that have been used before to answer questions that have been asked elsewhere. What makes each study novel is that they may run things a little differently, or apply a tool/method to a new species/location/situation, cross between theoretical and empirical work, etc. The only conflict that may arise if you 1) cite a paper from a predatory journal (it may not be allowed) or 2) you copy from a paper in the hope no-one spots it

I won't put this as an answer as it may not be right. Your paper appears in the journal "Journal of Chemical and Pharmaceutical Research" by the publisher Omics. Both the publisher and the Journal are considered to 'predatory journals' (e.g. bradleymonk.com/Beall%27s_List_of_Questionable_Journals). I believe that Google Scholar, WoS, Scopus, etc do not list these types of journals.

Where should I host a (simple) personal academic webpage?
I agree with these points. Institution's sites are ok, but you may very well loose it after you leave, and as @henning says, you loose control (I've seen many prof/lab websites held outside the institution probably for this reason). For what it's worth, I use Wordpress.com - which is free. It is easy to use, minimal effort, lots of nice layouts to choose from, and allows you to produce a diverse site (mine is a hybrid between science and science communication). There is nothing stopping you from linking other sites like GitHub or ResearchGate from your website either.

My advisor does not provide any solutions and wants me to work alone
Sorry to hear that you are having some conflict in this - I don't envy your situation. Have you made a pros and cons list of each of your options (stay, change supervisor, or take a MRes instead of a PhD)? If not, I'd recommend it as it can help with the decision. It might also be useful to consider what you can do to make the PhD more bearable. This could include things like finding ways to reframe negative thoughts, aspects, or encounters in a more positive light

Implications of being accepted without funding to a computer science PhD in the United States?
@user1745048 re working during the PhD, many departments/supervisors do not like this. I would talk to them first about this option-you don't want to start and then have conflict/more stress. I know 2 friends currently working/studying: A friend took on an unfunded PhD in Canada from a well-funded uni. She worked during the first year and studied, but still have a class to take. She is now working abroad to raise some money to do another year. Another friend who did a PhD part time in the UK. He is now 8 years in (very unusual in the UK-they like to have you out the door in 3 years).

What do I need to do as a potential mature student in the UK?
I was thinking more of an addition to your A-Levels to enhance your chances of being accepted onto the MSci IF the universities say there is an issue with your grades being a bit lower than they would want... just another avenue to explore (every university is different, but to be honest, I would have thought your work experience/diploma would be enough to give you the extra boost)
