I'm sorry to bother you here with this, I just don't know who else to ask nor what to do with my life. I've been an excellent student, I've always had the best grades. The thing is, I had personal problems and got into clinical depression during my MSc thesishave a master's degree in theoretical physics. Because of this, I didn't work as I should'vewant to do a PhD and I didn't complete my thesisstart a career in research. My supervisor didn't understand the
The problem and he started to insult me foris my lackletters of ability to complete simple tasksrecommendation. It became quicklyI had a toxichorrible relationship with my master's supervisor, where he mentally abused me instead of helping me outwho was also my undergraduate supervisor.
Long story short, I graduated because he didn't want me around anymoreended up graduating, I graduated without a completed thesis. Nobut with no publications on my shoulders (in my university they don't let you do research),and no letters of recommendationthesis. I always wanted to do a PhD and then starting He will not provide a career asletter. I've already asked other professors: some said no; a researcherfew did agree, but clearly I can't get into a PhD nowthey don't really know me. My study field is purevery theoretical, so I can't see howgetting a job can give me LORand asking my boss for a letter does not seem like it would be helpful.
What can I do?The only thing I even thoughtcan think of is to repeatdo a MSc in ordersecond master's degree with the specific goal of forming relationships with professors who can write me letters of recommendation. Does this seem like a reasonable thing to get some publications and LOR, but thendo? I'm scared inabout getting too old or to failfailing again at the thesis.
Edit 1 I graduated this year, my field is physical cosmology, theoretical physics.
Edit 2 I tried to ask LORs to other professors of my course: some of them denied, others granted permission, provided I stated that I had taken the course with them. I really never needed a meet with them outside lectures for clarifications, so they don't really know me. I'm just scared that not having my MSc LOR could be a huge red flag for PhD commission. My bachelor supervisor is my MSc supervisor too.
