Thanks for the answer.I am hoping I am still going to get a decent mark in my dissertation. My tutor did say that going for a topic at a much higher level will definitely work in my favour. Also my my supervisor did say that if I wrote up what I did properly I should get a first.
I was thinking about not letting them know about me personally. I was planning on asking them hypothetically. The idea was to email them questions to find out more information about the course and the modules they offer i.e For example on their website it says students may take up to 2 undergraduate modules and I was thinking of asking them would a person be allowed to take more than 2 in any case, for example missing the offer slightly etc...and then at the end just slip them a hypothetical question about their requirements and if someone did not meet them
Many thanks for your answer. Is it not difficult to turn the examiners attention to certain bits of the dissertation if they keep asking very specific questions on very tedious bits of algebra? Lastly if throughout the viva the student can not answer a singly question on where certain bits of tedious algebra come from, would they have failed the viva?
