HR has likely worked through the permutations of the guidelines to make things work for numerous faculty and staff already (and there may be some local common practices not spelled out precisely or examples of work-arounds that worked in another department that her chair is unaware of). If she has only been relying on reading and interpreting the HR related documents herself, an in-person chat can be helpful. | |
