Punishment of bad luck/inconsistency seems very true and 2. The non-existence of a hierarchy of college positions is a really excellent point. Increasingly it has also spilled outside of academia, i.e.if you were unable to get an academic job, it used to be easier to just go and work in quantitative finance or technology, but these are of course increasingly deep specializations of their own with their own unique demands. | |
