One that crossed my mind (something neither mentioned in the question nor addressed the comments yet) is the time slot drawn by the speaker. When speaking in a session near the end of the last day, it's not uncommon to have a relatively quiet audience – people are simply burned out from sitting, snacking, and sitting some more for two or three days straight. Your "squandered" assessment is a possibility, but I'm not sure enough information has been given to unequivocally conclude that's what really happened. | |
