I am assuming you are talking about examinations or other assesments, as I believe homework is almost universally "take home". Edited to imporve clarity.

Why isn't the grade on anyare so few grades in undergraduate formal math classclasses in most US collegecolleges based on bringtake home math paper exceptexaminations or papers, barring one or two research/self study class?

The formal math class iclasses I am referring to are topology, analysis, number theory, and calculus etc.

The writing class in my college is based on bringa take home paper, but I do not anysee similar grading schemes in math coursecourses in most ofother US colleges.
