May 26, 2022 at 0:28 | comment | added | G_B | @FrustratedBird Don't beat yourself up for being "gullible". PhD students should be able to trust their supervisors. This is a tough situation you're in, but it's not your fault that somebody else lacks ethics.

May 24, 2022 at 18:17 | comment | added | Josh Part | It seems to me that the real issue here is with your supervisors and their sponsors. Your supervisors seem to be in need to comply with them and not the scientific community or their field. You might feel against a wall here, but perhaps backing up and starting over anywhere else is the best possible outcome.
May 24, 2022 at 18:13 | comment | added | Adam Přenosil | You are, presumably, a free man or woman with moral agency of your own. You've ended up in an unpleasant situation through what seems to be the fault of your supervisors, but note that whatever you do in this situation will be your own decision and you will not be able to blame it at some later point on your "shortsightedness" or "gullibility" or someone else pressuring you into it.

May 23, 2022 at 16:20 | comment | added | user156798 | @Buffy indeed I have a lot of dreams, and some degree or job wasnt my motivation to come into phd. however I couldnt anticipate a lot of things. Which definitely is my shortsightedness
May 23, 2022 at 16:16 | comment | added | Buffy | I'm going to doubt that. I once had a poor advisor and couldn't see it for a long time (until I escaped) for lack of experience.
May 23, 2022 at 16:10 | comment | added | user156798 | @Buffy I am kind of dumb person who is easily gullible.
May 23, 2022 at 16:09 | comment | added | Buffy | And, for the record, you seem to have been given bad (really really bad) advice for a long time.
May 23, 2022 at 16:07 | comment | added | Buffy | Echoing the first two answers, faking data is the absolute worst possible thing you can do. It is the path to career suicide. It will possibly come out and maybe at the worst possible time.
