Jun 23, 2021 at 17:46 | comment | added | syn1kk | RE your story about "special studies": i thought i would have you beat with my story about a professor that read the slides provided by the textbook (not his own)... but your story is worse. at least for my class there was some back and forth and questions. my followup second story is similar to your story but in my case the teach only presented his hand written notes (from 2-7 years ago, with many errors)... but at least he talked and there was questions and back and forth.

Jun 22, 2021 at 21:29 | comment | added | Captain Emacs | That's not that bad. At least the topic is interesting. The worst I had was a social dynamics talk which sounded promising. It consisted in the speaker describing how he and a scientist from a different field ("interdisciplinary", mind you!) came together and the dynamics that led them to work together; it was indescribably dull (of course, the speaker was seated while speaking from manuscript). And the outcome of the "research", the punchline, so to say, after some 45 mins, was that they worked together because they liked each other's company. Give me daily Vogon poetry instead.
