In general, the interview process is more focused on cultural fit, are we a fit for you and are you a fit for us. This could be this office's way to measure the fit by having individual staff interviews with you. I would expect PhD students to be mature enough to inform staffing decisions.

In fact, that is often part of the interview process. It's common that you get to meet other group members and see the lab facilities. It would be more of a concern if you didn't get that opportunity.
