I am trying to understand the difference between a systematic mapping study and a systematic literature review. Although I have searched about the difference, I still find it confusing as it still for me both gather information about previous research related to one topic.

Can you please explain it to me in simple words?

Welcome to Academia SE! People assign similar and overlapping labels to similar or different things. To get a useful answer, please edit your original question with much details. explain what your research objectives are and why it matters to you to distinguish systematic mapping from systematic reviews. Then please also link to some publicly available sources you have looked at that did not clarify your confusion. If you take the time to compose a detailed, clear question like that, then you will be much more likely to receive a satisfactory answer.
