Per AMA style, what is the proper way to cite two different studies by the same author?
I am currently using the numeric superscripts to denote which study it is. However, the paper is a critical appraisal of a total of three studies, so the two studies are frequently referenced to and compared throughout the paper. To decrease confusion about which study I am talking about, do I need to write "author (year)" each time I reference a study or will superscripts suffice? Does AMA even allow such formatting?
