Is there any extensive database with the repositories of universities (and similar institutions) from around the world?

By repositories, I mean web pages where publications (such as PhD thesis) are publicly available or at least their meta-data. I would like to know if any such database exists in any form.

OP Edit

More precisely, what I am looking for is a comprehensive list with the web addresses of the repositories of several universities. For example:

  • Does this answer your question? Central Publication Repository – tjiagoM Apr 9 at 13:44
  • Thanks for the suggestion, @tjiagoM. The answer is no. Please, see the update. – lfba Apr 9 at 20:37
  • Just curious, what kind of use for such a database do you have in mind? (since it only stores links, I don't see how it makes it easy to look up any article, for instance). – GoodDeeds Apr 9 at 20:40
  • There are several national databases you may find useful, especially if you're particularly interested in theses and dissertations. See e.g. Proquest and the answers to this question – Anyon Apr 9 at 23:06

Thanks, @GoodDeeds. I want to extract the pattern in the links of every such database. For instance, here is a link of a thesis from my university: cybertesis.unmsm.edu.pe/handle/cybertesis/11729 whose pattern is cybertesis.unmsm.edu.pe/handle/cybertesisthesis_code. I will use this for making an extension to the biblatex pacakge from LaTeX. – lfba Apr 10 at 12:01
