I would like to ask SE community here about where one should pursue his/her postdoctoral research. At a wold's top three university with an early-career assistant professor or at a top 50 university with a very well known professor in the field? I need to accept one of these two postdoctoral offers and would like to hear your views. I already have 10+ publications and my long-term career goal is to go for industry position after 1-2 years of postdoc.

These posts discuss essentially the same dilemma, but for PhD rather than post-doc. I suspect the answer is the same. – cag51 Jan 12 '20 at 6:33

You may want to provide your subfield -- is your subfield so small that industry people will have heard of your "very well known" professor? Also: what is your goal in pursuing a post-doc at all? A year of post-doc generally counts less than a year of relevant industry experience, so I assume you have some particular goal that you want this post-doc to help you reach. – cag51 Jan 12 '20 at 6:46
  • @cag51 My field of study is bioinformatics/computational biology. – MAPK Jan 12 '20 at 6:49
  • Neither, it’s your performance... – Solar Mike Jan 12 '20 at 8:37
