Recently, a publisher sent back a paper because of capitalization issues in my references. Now I am trying to following APA closely and fixing everything. I just now found out that only journal titles are word-cased, but that titles and books are sentence-cased.

My question is: what about conferences and proceedings? So, let's say that I have these fields:

  • Proceedings Title: Proceedings of the Eighth International Conference on Language Resources and Evaluation
  • Conference Name: Language Resources and Evaluation (LREC 2012)

What would be the correct format?

  • Proceedings are books. Unless they’re journal issues. In any case, follow the publisher’s formatting guidelines verbatim; if the guidelines are unclear, ask them for clarificatoin. – JeffE Feb 13 at 7:03
