So, I was digging about the World Scholars Cup (WSC), and found (according to Wikipedia, this is the article) that it is owned by a private company, DemiDec Resources. And I found somewhere else that said they earned a ton of money on this website. So, I just want the actual truth. It cost quite a bit to join the competition, so I need to know transparently, are they actually a non-profit, as their website claims, or are they just lying?

Also, I would like to know whether it actually affects my university application or not. If so, how much does it affect it?

Btw, I dont know whether this Stack Exchange site is the right place to ask all these questions.
