It is quite easy to get joint or secondary appointments across these departments, especially when it makes sense topically (they all then benefit from your success). Switching tenure home entirely can be more complicated. Chemistry to Physics or vice-versa is typically easier because it is under the umbrella of the College of Sciences (or equivalent, typically), so the equipment, and space remains within the college making it easier..
